Sephardic Selichot (Forgiveness) Prayers

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Yeshua got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.” Mark 1:35

Selichot prayers are always done before dawn. The beginning prayer is a reminder that we need to remove sleep from our eyes and slumber from our eyelids. In these Last Days, believers in Messiah need to be awake spiritually. Awake to do God’s will! Awake to thwart the lies and wiles of the adversary! Awake to teach others of His ways! Awake to the hurting! Awake to witness! AWAKE!

It is Sephardic (Spanish) tradition to read what is called Selichot prayers for forgiveness for 40 days leading up to Yom Kippur. This is because Moses went up to the mountain to receive the second set of tablets after the golden calf incident when he destroyed the first set. So, this 40-day journey by Moses represents a penitent time, will God forgive us for what we have done? Will He accept our prayers? Will He reach down His hand and save us? And because Moses does indeed come down from the mountain with the tablets, it is understood that God did give us a second chance to walk worthy.

With this heart in mind, please join us in prayer every morning beginning on Sunday, August 16 EXCEPT Saturday mornings and Rosh Chodesh Tishrei, Sunday, September 13.

We will do Selichot at 5 AM (EST) live. Please do not be late. I suggest you set a daily reminder or download the calendar link below.
